Growth Stories – Ethel Karskens

Another entry to our growth stories series, this week looking at one of our Data Analysts, Ethel Karskens, who has great growth insights

Name:
Ethel Karskens

Job Title:
Product Manager/Data Analyst

Short Bio
I’ve worked in different analytics spaces and roles for more than eight years, and have specialised in Forensics Analytics, Product Analytics and Social Impact Measurement.

I’ve worked as a senior data analyst at PwC, Microsoft, and multiple start-ups. Passionate about data for good, I founded Sydney Data for Democracy and later Civita, a not-for-profit that connects data professionals with charities to help them increase their data maturity. Today, in addition to running my organisation, I work with for-purpose organisations as a data lead to leverage their data for a greater social impact.

Hobby/Fun Fact about yourself
My passion is writing and theatre — I act in French-speaking plays in Sydney!

Personal Growth Story:
To me, personal and professional growth can only happen through breaks and meditation. Several times a year, I like to completely disconnect and take the time to reflect on what I have accomplished and if I am going in the right direction. On a daily basis, every morning, before doing anything else, I list the tasks and goals I need to do to achieve these bigger goals, in addition to the usual workloads.

Your Next Growth Target:
Expand my data equity work through my own organisation or a larger one.

Your Role Model:
Nate Silver
